MindTap Program

Mindtap

Healthy Ways to Handle Stress

MindTap is a program created by Beth Demmons, LCSW, Counselor and Carroll Community Educator in the Carroll Wellness Center.  Beth uses evidenced-based research in the fields of mental health and wellness to enhance the skills and abilities of people navigating life.  The objective of the program is not only to survive college but to thrive in this environment and develop skills that remain with you as you face life’s challenges and strive to make the world a better place.

Through this program, Beth provides psychoeducation to all Carroll College community members to improve mental health and well-being.  Focus is placed on a once a week presentation providing education and skills-based training, MindFul Practice videos created and posted to enhance various mental health concerns and MindFul Minutes created as video productions offering simple methods to regulate emotion, increase distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Marsha M. Linehan, PhD, ABPP, is the developer of DBT and the Professor of Psychology and of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Director of the Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinics at the University of Washington. Her primary research interest is in the development and evaluation of evidence-based treatments for populations with high suicide risk and multiple, severe mental disorders.
