Getting to Helena
Glad you are planning to visit Carroll - we look forward to seeing you on campus! Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Helena can be reached by plane, train or automobile!
The Helena Regional Airport is about a 10 minute drive across town from campus. Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and Alaska Airlines fly into Helena. Connecting flights from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Seattle are most common for travelers flying in and out of Helena.
We are about a hour and a half drive from Missoula, Great Falls, Butte and Bozeman, which all also have airports. The airport codes for the airports in the area are:
- Helena - HLN
- Bozeman - BZN
- Butte - BTM
- Great Falls - GTF
- Missoula - MSO
Travel to Helena by train is a bit trickier. Amtrak's 'Empire Builder' passenger service's nearest stops are 4 hours by car to either Shelby, MT or Havre, MT. This has been an option for current Carroll students in the past as they catch a ride to the station with friends from the area.
From any direction it is a scenic drive to Helena, Montana! Whether you are coming from the east, driving towards the Rocky Mountains, or coming over some mountain passes to get here - it is beautiful.
