Service in Action Fair is part of Inauguration Week and a nationwide effort marking the 25th anniversary of September 11
HELENA, MT — Carroll College has been selected to receive funding through the 2026 9/11 Day Grant Program to host a community service event connecting Carroll students with organizations serving the Helena area.
As part of a week of events leading up to the September 15 inauguration of Carroll College’s 20th president, Dr. Jennifer Glowienka, the college will host Carroll College’s Service in Action Fair on Friday, September 11, from 1–4 p.m. in the Upper Campus Center.
Carroll College is joining a nationwide movement to transform the 25th anniversary of 9/11 into America’s Day of Doing Good, reclaiming September 11 as an annual moment of national reflection, unity and action.
The event is part of Carroll’s Inauguration Week, themed Rooted in Mission. Cultivating the Future. Events throughout the week celebrate the five pillars of the college’s mission. The Service in Action Fair highlights the college’s commitment to “serving all with humility, especially our neighbors who are poor and marginalized.”
The fair will bring together local service organizations representing a broad range of community needs, including food insecurity, housing instability, foster care, healthcare, domestic violence prevention, support for military families, youth services. and senior care.
The Service in Action Fair is an innovative community engagement event designed to introduce students to local nonprofit organizations through hands-on service. Students will complete a brief, meaningful service project at each booth while learning about the organization’s mission, the needs it addresses and opportunities for continued involvement through volunteering and internships. Organizations scheduled to participate include:

- God’s Love
- Montana Supporting Soldiers
- Florence Crittenton
- The Friendship Center
- Child Bridge
- Options Women’s Clinic
- Helena Pointe Independent Senior Living
- Montana Youth Justice Council
- St. Peter’s Health
The Service in Action Fair is also part of the federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, which encourages Americans to commemorate 9/11 through service to others.
Carroll received funding for the event through the 2026 9/11 Day Grant Program, administered by the nonprofit 9/11 Day in collaboration with AmeriCorps. The $3 million national grant program, funded by AmeriCorps and the Popeyes Foundation, supports community-led service projects across the country commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
This year’s observance carries particular significance as the nation marks 25 years since the attacks. The national 9/11 Day initiative seeks to ensure that younger generations remember not only the tragedy of September 11, but also the compassion, courage, selflessness and spirit of unity that emerged in its aftermath.
Through the Service in Action Fair, Carroll students will put that spirit of service into action while developing stronger connections with organizations working every day to serve Helena and the surrounding community.
