Public Statement of IACBE Accreditation: Member with Accredited Programs

The Business Department at Carroll College has received specialized accreditation for its business program(s) through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) located at 11960 Quivira Road in Overland Park, Kansas, USA. A Member with Accredited Programs has successfully completed the IACBE accreditation process, achieving IACBE specialized accreditation for one or more business-related programs, and has affirmed its continued commitment to excellence in business education. The specialized accreditation granted by the IACBE is specific to the programs granted accreditation – this does not include any accreditation/approval of the overall institution or any of its business units.

Mission of the Carroll Business Department

The Business Department’s mission is consistent with Carroll College’s dual goals of vocation and enlightenment and prepares students for graduate school or entry into the workforce. Framed by a strong foundation in liberal arts education, the mission of the Business Department is to provide students with the strong ethical foundation and globally informed knowledge and skills necessary for today’s dynamic professional environment.

Programmatic Intended Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will apply principal concepts within the traditional areas of business to inform decision-making.
  2. Students will apply legal, ethical, and economic standards of business to organizational decision-making.
  3. Students will demonstrate professional communication skills.
  4. Students will apply decision-support tools to organizational decision-making.
  5. Students will contribute in collaborative team environments.

Intended Student Learning Outcomes for Business: Management & Marketing

  1. Students will be able to distinguish the principal concepts, theories, and practices in and recognize the interrelationships between the functional areas of business.
  2. Students will be able to recognize cultural perspectives, social responsibilities, and ethical perspectives and apply them to organizational decision-making.
  3. Students will be able to construct coherent oral and written forms of communication and present them in a professional manner.
  4. Students will be able to apply theory and practice in the business functional areas to strategic planning and analysis of organizational problems and challenges.

Intended Student Learning Outcomes for Business: Financial Planning

  1. Students will understand and be able to apply fundamental concepts and practices in financial planning.
  2. Students will be able to describe and apply the professional responsibilities of financial planning professionals.
  3. Students will be able to construct coherent oral and written forms of communication and present them in a professional manner.

Intended Student Learning Outcomes for Business: Accounting & Strategic Finance

  1. Students will understand and be able to apply fundamental concepts and practices related to public accounting (financial accounting, tax, auditing, etc.).
  2. Students will understand and be able to apply fundamental concepts and practices related to industry, non-profits, and governments (financial reporting, managerial accounting, finance, etc.).
  3. Students will be able to recognize and apply legal and ethical principles in accounting to decision-making.

Intended Student Learning Outcomes for Master of Accountancy

Upon successful completion of the Master of Accountancy program, students will be able to:

  1. Analyze technical accounting problems and formulate solutions using theories, concepts, and practice of professional accountancy.
  2. Apply standards of legal and/or ethical behavior in accounting decision-making.
  3. Participate as a team member to solve accounting challenges.
  4. Demonstrate research, analysis, writing, and presentation of complex accounting issues appropriate to a variety of audiences.
