Associate Professor - Political Science
Dr. Alex Street grew up in the UK and has a BA from the University of Oxford. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Street studies Comparative and American politics, focusing mainly on political participation. He has written about why immigrants naturalize, how voters choose between candidates, how immigrants develop a preference for political parties, and how voter registration laws affect turnout, among other topics.
In November 2016, students in Dr. Street's class on Elections ran an Exit Poll for national and state elections in and around Helena.
Dr. Street has worked at universities in the US, Italy and Germany, and also taught as a volunteer in prisons in California and New York. He enjoys spending time with his family and outdoors, especially in the mountains.
