Nursing Seniors Attend MPHA Conference

On September 18, 2019, several Carroll College senior nursing students attended the Montana Public Health Association (MPHA) Conference in Bozeman, Montana. This was an optional experience for those enrolled in Nu414: Community & Public Health Nursing.

The theme of the conference was "Moving Forward: The Changing Landscape of Public and Environmental Health." The students attended sessions on such topics as lead filtration and the Flint water crisis, indoor air filtration, milestone mapping for early identification of autism, creating teen-friendly presentations for the e-cigarette epidemic, and a community-based substance abuse program for pregnant women on the Flathead Reservation.

Additionally, a total of $2100 in scholarships was awarded by MPHA to the students to cover the cost of their attendance at the conference.
