About

In January 2019 I began my service as an HIV/AIDs Outreach Coordinator with the Peace Corps in South Africa. For the Community HIV Outreach Project (CHOP), volunteers such as myself aim to reduce HIV stigma, help provide linkages to care, educate youth on HIV and prevention, and support vulnerable children and caregivers.

Carroll College and its Public Health curriculum have given me the tools to be an effective volunteer by means of rigorous coursework, community projects, and support from faculty in the pursuit of my academic interests. In South Africa I have found myself performing Community Needs Assessments, SWOT analyses, and other assessment tools just like I had done during my time at Carroll. I am thankful for the great professors and students of Carroll College that have encouraged and supported me. I am proud to call myself a Saint for Life!

Ethan entered an MPH program at Tulane University in New Orleans in September 2020.
