About

I graduated from Carroll College in May 2020 with a double major in Health Sciences and Public Health. Graduating and planning to enter a professional graduate school program during a pandemic was not something I had planned for. I was, however, able to quickly put my degree to use, as I began working as a COVID-19 Case Investigator at RiverStone Health. I am thankful for this opportunity to learn and give back to the community before continuing my education.

In the fall of 2021, I will start my journey to become a Doctor of Optometry (OD) at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. Health Sciences and Public Health are not traditional majors for a student pursuing optometry. However, my coursework introduced me to importance of public health and hands-on experience while allowing the flexibility to take the prerequisite biology, chemistry, and physics courses needed for optometry school.

The Health Sciences Department at Carroll College provided me with a strong foundational knowledge and the ambition to continue my education in healthcare. With the continuous support from my professors, the academic curriculum, and the many opportunities Carroll College had to offer, I feel confident and prepared to begin optometry school.
