Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS)
It takes a special kind of individual to dedicate their life to healing and bringing comfort to others. And that’s exactly the type of person that comes to Carroll to study nursing.
Nurses truly are on the front line of health care. They bring a well-rounded skill set and knowledge base that enables them to respond to a wide range of problems while at the same time understanding that every patient is unique. And when nurses complement their healthcare training with the depth that a liberal arts education delivers, they bring an added perspective of the human condition that enhances the care they ultimately deliver.
The nursing program focuses on a holistic approach to health care, offering an intentional integration of theory and practical application, guided by an accomplished faculty who are passionate about teaching. Students begin their clinical experiences in the 200-level nursing courses, and have access to a broad range of clinical settings—from local hospitals to public health, assisted living, long-term care, home visits, and psychiatric settings. In order to ensure the best learning experience for students, Carroll maintains a low faculty to student ratio. The baccalaureate degree in nursing at Carroll College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The program is also approved by the Montana State Board of Nursing.
Why Nursing at Carroll?
Studying nursing at Carroll brings with it a number of distinct advantages. Our diocesan Catholic mission permeates everything we do at Carroll, so you’ll find our nursing students engaging in service activities throughout the year, including through the campus chapter of the Student Nurses Association (CCSNA) and nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). Beginning their nursing clinical experiences in their second year gives students three years of diverse nursing clinicals integrated with their nursing courses and other liberal arts courses. This allows students to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom to real life situations. This type of program makes learning more exciting and relevant and guides students in the development of the critical thinking skills so essential to being a good nurse. Carroll’s state-of-the-art nursing simulation center provides an excellent opportunity for students to practice clinical skills and simulated patient experiences. Each nursing course at Carroll provides quality, personalized learning experiences with caring, qualified faculty. And you’ll have the opportunity to travel the world through one of Carroll’s many diverse study abroad and service opportunities.
