Dear Carroll Community,
This week, Carroll College announced one of the most significant changes we have made to improve access to a Carroll education. Beginning in fall 2027, our published undergraduate price will be 40 percent lower, with tuition set at $26,800 and general undergraduate student fees eliminated. The newsletter article that follows provides a fuller explanation of how the tuition reset works and what it means for students and families. I want to share why this decision matters so deeply to me and to Carroll.
At its heart, this decision is about access and mission. Families are looking more closely than ever at college cost and value. Too many see Carroll's published price and rule us out before visiting campus, applying, or learning what a Carroll education could actually cost after financial aid and scholarships. When that happens, they never have the opportunity to discover the education and community we know can have a lifelong impact.
Carroll's identity as a Catholic, diocesan college is central to this decision. Founded by Bishop Carroll of the Diocese of Helena in 1909, Carroll is deeply rooted in Helena, Montana, and this region. Our mission calls us to be thoughtful stewards and to provide a high-quality, accessible education that prepares students to serve their professions and communities well. The tuition reset is one concrete way we are living that mission.
Visitors often tell me they notice something distinctive when they arrive at Carroll. They see a beautiful campus in a valley surrounded by mountains, but what stays with them is the warmth of the people and the genuine welcome they feel. Carroll is beautiful physically and in spirit. It is a place where students are known, challenged, and supported, and where they are invited to consider not only what they will do, but who they want to become.
That experience will not change. Students will continue to benefit from strong academics, close faculty mentorship, meaningful opportunities for research, service, and leadership, and a community that cares deeply about their success. What this new model changes is the starting price families see and whether they believe Carroll is within reach.
We want to share the Carroll experience with more students. By giving families a clearer and more realistic starting price, we can help more of them see Carroll as attainable, discover what makes this community special, and know that they belong here. This is the latest proactive step in our broader work to expand educational opportunity while remaining true to the mission and strengths that define Carroll.
I am truly excited about what this change can mean for our students and for Carroll. I invite you to read the article that follows to learn more about the reset, the planning behind it, and what students and families can expect.
Thank you for believing in Carroll and in the students we are called to serve.
With gratitude,
Jennifer Glowienka, Ph.D.
President, Carroll College
