We are grateful for the time, talent, and leadership provided to Carroll College by the Board of Trustees. Carroll’s Trustees are incredibly committed to the success of the college, and they continue to provide expertise and strategic direction to the college.

Incoming Trustees

We are pleased to welcome the following individuals to the Board of Trustees:

Jon Lewis '83
Jon is a Carroll College alumnus (Class of 1983) with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He later completed both an MBA from Seattle University and a Master of Legal Studies in Compliance & Risk Management. Jon spent the majority of his career at Boeing, progressing from engineering roles on the factory floor to manufacturing leadership and ultimately to negotiating aircraft sales and contracts. His experience also includes co-founding a venture-backed telecommunications software company. Currently, as the founder of JLewis Business Consulting, he helps organizations achieve strategic and operational goals. He remains engaged with Carroll through the Engineering Advisory Board. He brings a blend of technical expertise, business leadership, and a continued commitment to Carroll’s Board of Trustees.

Julie McCulloh 
Julie is a highly regarded higher education leader and consultant with more than 30 years of experience, most notably at Gonzaga University, where she served in senior roles including Vice Provost, Associate Provost, and Dean of Admission. A Gonzaga alumna, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, an MBA, and a Certificate in Design Thinking. Her career has centered on strategic enrollment management across undergraduate, graduate, professional, and international programs, as well as student financial services, while also leading initiatives in technology, global engagement, partnerships, compliance, and leadership transitions. A strong advocate for access and diversity, Julie has championed efforts supporting first-generation students, first-generation Americans, and those from low-income backgrounds. She has also contributed extensively to professional and community organizations, including the College Board, PNACAC, and the College Success Foundation, in addition to volunteer service with local schools and food security efforts.

Marc Racicot '70
Former Montana Governor Marc Racicot (Class of 1970) brings a distinguished record of public service, ethical leadership, and deep commitment to Montana’s communities, aligning closely with Carroll College’s mission. Serving as Governor from 1993 to 2001, he led with fiscal discipline, bipartisan collaboration, and a focus on long-term stability, following earlier service as Montana Attorney General, where he earned national recognition for his work in criminal justice and victim advocacy. A former U.S. Army JAG Corps officer, Racicot’s career reflects core values of integrity, duty, and service. He has continued to contribute at the national level through leadership roles in public policy and nonprofit governance, while maintaining strong ties across Montana. His lifelong dedication to ethical leadership, education, and community service—combined with both statewide insight and national perspective—positions him as a valuable asset to Carroll College’s Board of Trustees.

Mary Zoanni Thomas '78 
Mary is a 1978 graduate of Carroll College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and went on to dedicate 35 years to St. Peter’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse, with extensive experience in surgical, operating room, recovery, and oncology care. Deeply committed to her profession, she also served five years with the Montana Nurses Association as a Professional Continuing Education Provider, helping ensure nurses met licensure requirements. Mary views nursing as her ministry, most notably during her 15 years in the Cancer Treatment Center, where she provided compassionate support to patients facing serious diagnoses. A lifelong contributor to her community and faith, she has served as a cantor since the 1980s and remains an active supporter of Carroll College, alongside her husband Larry (Class of 1977) and their three sons, all alumni. Mary brings a strong personal and family connection to Carroll, a legacy of service, and a deep commitment to the College’s mission.

Rev. Kirby Longo '12 
Fr. Kirby Longo is originally from Billings, MT, and is a 2012 Philosophy and Classical Studies graduate of Carroll College. Following his time in Helena, he studied at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Helena in 2017. Fr. Kirby was first assigned as Parochial Vicar at St. Ann and Holy Spirit Parishes in Butte and also served as Chaplain to Butte Central Catholic Schools. In 2020, he was assigned as Pastor of Christ the King University Parish in Missoula, where he has since served the parish community, with a special emphasis on campus ministry for the students of the University of Montana. He is an avid outdoorsman and is currently completing a major renovation to Christ the King Church.


Board of Trustees Leadership

Dr. Joyce Stewart’s '79 appointment on the Board of Trustees has been extended by one year and she will graciously continue to serve as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the next academic year.  

Mr. Bob Heberly will serve as the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees. He also serves as the Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee.

Ms. Monica Gomez '00 will continue to serve as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees. She also serves as the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.  


Trustee Emerita 

In recognition of her 16 years of service on the Board of Trustees over the past nearly 30 years and her dedication to Carroll College, Ms. Theresa Racicot has been named Trustee Emerita. When you see Theresa, please thank her for her continued support of Carroll College.
