ROTC Commissioning Ceremony Celebrates New Officers

On May 9, Carroll College’s ROTC program held its annual Commissioning Ceremony in the Montana State Capitol Rotunda, where four graduating cadets took their oaths of office and became Second Lieutenants in the United States Army. Two additional cadets will be commissioned later this summer.

This year’s ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Renea Dorvall and Lieutenant Colonel Janel Wiese of the Montana Army National Guard. The program also honored two departing leaders: Lieutenant Benjamin Culver, retiring Professor of Military Science for the Grizzly Battalion, and Sergeant First Class McKenzie Harriman, who is transitioning to a new role at Fort Harrison.

Congratulations to our newly commissioned officers (pictured left to right):

  • 2LT Jonathan Goodman (Elementary Education, Leadership minor), who will attend Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course (BOLC) at Fort Sill, OK.2LT Jonathan Goodman
  • 2LT Weston Mitchum (Nursing, Leadership minor), commissioned into the Army Nurse Corps with aspirations of becoming a Critical Care Nurse.
  • 2LT Isaac Goudy (Sociology, Psychology and Leadership minors), set to attend Field Artillery BOLC in January at Fort Sill, OK.
  • 2LT Edouard Karleskind (Biology), commissioned into the Army Signal Corps and a member of the 7252nd Medical Support Unit.
