The Power of Giving at Carroll

Dear Carroll Community,

One of the things that makes Carroll College so special is the generosity of the people and organizations who believe in our students and our mission. Every day, we see the impact of that generosity across our campus, from the scholarships that make a Carroll education possible to the facilities, programs, and experiences that help our students thrive.

Over the next several months, we are dedicating portions of our newsletter to celebrating philanthropy and expressing our gratitude to the many individuals and organizations who invest in Carroll. Giving takes many forms. It comes from alumni and friends, private foundations, businesses and community partners, as well as grants from federal agencies and other organizations. Each plays an important role in strengthening Carroll and creating opportunities for our students.

Just as important, we are helping our students recognize the impact of that generosity and discover the joy of giving back.

Our student-led Grateful Saints have been especially busy putting gratitude into action. During TAG Week, September 14–18, Thanks to All Who Give signs appeared throughout campus, helping students see how philanthropy has shaped the buildings and spaces they use every day. A campus scavenger hunt offered another opportunity to discover the many ways donor support contributes to their Carroll experience.

The following week, our Grateful Saints took that appreciation directly to their fellow students through a Philanthropy Roadshow. More than 566 students participated, writing handwritten or online messages of thanks to the donors who have made a difference in their lives.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting with Grateful Saint and our Student Phone Team Supervisor Tori Muzatko, who shared an important perspective. While students often think first of scholarships when they consider philanthropy, its impact reaches much further. It includes the spaces where they learn, the resources available to them, and the opportunities that enrich their college experience. Tori also spoke about the importance of carrying that gratitude forward, recognizing that today's students can become tomorrow's supporters.

That spirit of gratitude and generosity is something we hope to cultivate in every Carroll student.

I also want to invite you to join us for our third annual Joy of Giving celebration on Thursday, November 5, here on campus. This event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our students and see firsthand the difference your generosity makes. This year, we're introducing student-led impact stations, where students will share their research, accomplishments, and experiences made possible through philanthropic support. I hope you'll join us for this special celebration. Please RSVP here.

As you read this newsletter and those to come, you'll see examples of the many ways giving strengthens Carroll, whether through a generous individual donor, a foundation grant, a business partnership, federal funding or students discovering their own capacity to give back.

To everyone who supports Carroll through gifts of time, talent, and resources, thank you. Your generosity is felt throughout our campus, and its impact shapes the Carroll experience in countless ways.

With gratitude,

Jennifer Glowienka, Ph.D.
President, Carroll College
