As part of a week of events leading up to the Sept. 15 inauguration of Carroll College’s 20th president, Dr. Jennifer Glowienka, Carroll College hosted “Magnifica Humanitas and the Mission of Carroll College: A Panel Discussion” on Thursday, Sept. 10, in the Lower Campus Center.
Bishop Austin Vetter and Carroll faculty and staff discussed Pope Leo XIV’s Magnifica Humanitas: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence and its relevance to Carroll’s academic mission and commitment to value-centered education.
Panelists included:
- Bishop Vetter, Bishop of the Diocese of Helena
- Dr. Mark Smillie, Professor of Philosophy and Catholic Studies
- Rachel Martin, Director of Academic Technology
- Dr. Rebecca Coates, Associate Professor of Chemistry
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Katherine Greiner, Associate Professor of Theology.
The event was part of Carroll’s Inauguration Week, themed “Rooted in Mission. Cultivating the Future.” Events throughout the week celebrated the five pillars of the college’s mission and led up to Glowienka’s inauguration as Carroll’s 20th president on Sept. 15.
