Dear Carroll Community,
When we think about the impact of philanthropy at Carroll College, scholarships are often the first thing that comes to mind. And rightly so. Financial support that makes a Carroll education possible is among the most meaningful investments anyone can make in our students.
But some of the most interesting examples of philanthropy are found in opportunities and experiences that extend beyond traditional financial support. They reflect the creativity, collaboration, and commitment of people who believe in what Carroll students can accomplish.
This week, we're highlighting two very different examples.
Through the generosity of late Carroll alumnus Roy Simperman ’62 and his son, Roy Simperman Jr., and the Simperman-Corette Foundation, our graduates have an extraordinary opportunity to work at the world-renowned W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii. This partnership, now in its seventh year, provides our graduates with hands-on research experience and professional mentorship at one of the world's leading astronomical research facilities. It's an opportunity that builds on the strong academic foundation students receive at Carroll and helps prepare them for careers in fields ranging from data science and technology to finance.
Closer to home, our Wellness Center recently received a $4,000 grant through a partnership with the Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement, the Western Region Continuums of Service Consortium, and the Vodafone Americas Foundation. This funding supports domestic violence awareness and prevention programming, helping students recognize warning signs, support their peers, and connect with resources. It's an investment in the health, safety, and well-being of our campus community.
While these initiatives serve very different purposes, they share something important. Both are the result of people recognizing an opportunity to make a difference and working together to make it happen.
At Carroll, we are continually looking for ways to build relationships, pursue grants, and connect the generosity of our supporters with the needs and aspirations of our students. Whether it's creating a fellowship at a world-class research institution or strengthening the resources available to students here on campus, these efforts contribute to the education and supportive community we strive to provide.
I also hope you'll join us for our third annual Joy of Giving celebration on Thursday, November 5. This year's event will feature student-led impact stations, giving guests an opportunity to hear directly from students about the research, experiences, and accomplishments made possible through donor support. It's a chance to see the results of these investments and connect with the students whose lives they touch. Please RSVP here.
As we continue sharing these stories in the weeks ahead, I hope they offer a broader understanding of what giving makes possible at Carroll. Each gift, grant, and partnership represents an investment in our students and in the future of our college.
With gratitude,
Jennifer Glowienka, Ph.D.
President, Carroll College
