Honoring Faculty, Strengthening the Future

Dear Carroll Community,

We begin with deep gratitude for the newly established Terry Payne Endowed Professorship for Social Work. This generous gift, made by J.F. Scherer, honors a man who has lived a life marked by generosity and service while strengthening a program that prepares students for meaningful work in our communities.

Endowed professorships are among the most powerful and lasting investments in Carroll’s future. Today, 16 endowed professorships support faculty across disciplines including nursing, engineering, business, biology, theology, and anthrozoology. We are also pleased to share that new endowed professorships in Philosophy and Education have recently been established, with additional opportunities in development.

These endowments are not honorary titles. They are active resources that allow faculty to expand undergraduate research, travel with students to present at national conferences, bring guest speakers and industry leaders to campus, strengthen and redesign curriculum, pursue advanced scholarship, and invest in specialized tools and learning experiences. The result is a richer, more dynamic education for our students.

If a department, mentor, or experience shaped your time at Carroll, we invite you to consider supporting an existing endowed professorship or creating one in honor of someone or something that made a lasting impact on your journey. Together, we can sustain the excellence of our faculty and expand opportunities for students for generations to come.

With gratitude,

Jennifer Glowienka, Ph.D.
