Carroll College Theatre will present Firebringer, a musical comedy from StarKid Productions, October 2–11, 2026, in the FLEX Theatre, located on the lower level of the Carroll College Campus Center.
Set in the Stone Age, Firebringer follows two women with very different approaches to life. Jemilla, the tribe’s leader, values tradition and the rules that have kept her people safe, while Zazzalil is a rebellious innovator eager to challenge the status quo. As the tribe navigates its primitive world, its members wrestle with the tension between safety and progress, all while worshiping a duck.
Featuring a majority-female cast, Firebringer puts female leadership and innovation at the center of its story while playfully challenging traditional narratives. The show combines sharp wit, irreverent humor and catchy music in a distinctly modern take on prehistoric life.
Firebringer features music and lyrics by Meredith Stepien and Mark Swiderski, with a book by Nick Lang, Matt Lang and Brian Holden, and arrangements by Clark Baxtresser and Pierce Siebers. The musical was originally produced by StarKid Productions. Founded in 2009 at the University of Michigan by a group of students that included Darren Criss, Brian Holden, Matt Lang and Nick Lang, StarKid Productions first gained widespread attention with its viral production A Very Potter Musical. The company has since created numerous original musical comedies known for their pop-culture influences, offbeat storytelling and millenial humor.
Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m., October 2–11. The production runs approximately two hours, including a 15-minute intermission.
