Carroll College Moot Court competitors Kate Wilkins, a sophomore from Holladay, Utah, and Reagan Long, a sophomore from Livingston, Montana, concluded the fall competition season at the American Moot Court Association’s Southern California Regional Tournament, held November 22–23, 2025, at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles.
In their first collegiate tournament, the pair competed against a strong field of seasoned teams and gained valuable experience through multiple rounds of oral argument. Their competition included matchups against the number one and number four teams in the regional bracket, providing practical insight into high-level appellate advocacy.
During breaks in competition, Kate and Reagan visited the Getty Center, exploring its art collections and enjoying views of the city before returning to prepare for additional rounds.
“By far the best part of this experience was the people,” said Kate Wilkins. “Getting to work alongside Reagan pushed me to be a better competitor and a better friend. I also enjoyed getting to know some of our competitors from other universities. None of this would have been possible without Prof K and her commitment for us.”
Reagan Long also reflected on the importance of the tournament experience. “This tournament was a fantastic opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge I have developed through the Carroll College Moot Court program in a truly competitive setting. Delivering oral arguments alongside other teams has been both challenging and rewarding, and this experience has fostered a strong sense of community among my teammates and our dedicated coaches. I am excited to see how this program will continue to empower students to grow and succeed in the legal field.”
While they did not advance to the National Preliminary Round, both students returned with new confidence and motivation as the program builds toward future seasons.
