Carroll College Expands Competitive Opportunities with the Addition of Four New Teams

Helena, MT – Carroll College is excited to announce a significant expansion of opportunities for student-athletes with the addition of four new programs: Competitive Dance, Competitive Cheer, JV Men's Soccer, and JV Men's Basketball. These additions reflect the college's commitment to offering diverse and competitive opportunities for students at Carroll.

The Competitive Dance and Cheer programs are both NAIA-sponsored sports featuring a championship series. With the aim to establish teams of 24 athletes each within three years, Carroll College is looking forward to making a mark in these highly engaging and competitive arenas.

Carroll's existing cheer team, known for its current spirit and energy at athletic events, will now enhance its focus on competitive routines, building upon their previous competitive experiences. Similarly, the Dance team will also entertain fans during timeouts and halftime at home events while preparing for NAIA Dance competitions.

Both Cheer and Dance teams have the goal to compete in three NAIA-sanctioned events in their inaugural year and four in the following year, fulfilling the requirement for postseason competition eligibility. The college is also excited to host its own Cheer and Dance Competition in year two, further establishing its presence in the sport.

The Cheer and Dance seasons will bring spirit and athleticism to Carroll College during the winter months of January through March. All participating student-athletes will be certified through the NAIA Clearinghouse and Eligibility Center to maintain the highest standards of competition. Scholarships will be available to new students to support and recognize the talents of these student-athletes.

With coaching positions now open and recruitment starting immediately, Carroll College is preparing to field these teams by Fall 2024. Information about the available coaching positions can be found on Carroll’s employment page at www.carroll.edu/employment.

“Competitive collegiate Cheer and Dance Teams are unique to our geographic region and will be a draw for prospective students. To be able to offer new programs that meet the interests of students and extend the Fighting Saints brand is very exciting,” said Carroll College Director of Athletics Charlie Gross.

Adding to the expansion, the college is also inaugurating JV Men’s Basketball and JV Men’s Soccer programs. These additions, following the successful model of JV Women’s Basketball and JV Volleyball which are in their third year, will offer more student-athletes the chance to compete at the collegiate level. Both the JV Men’s Basketball and JV Men’s Soccer teams will compete in a reduced annual schedule against regional institutions.

Carroll College continues to demonstrate its dedication to enhancing the student-athlete experience and broadening its athletic reach. With these new programs, Carroll College solidifies its position as a leader in collegiate athletics in the region and offers new avenues for students to excel both in sports and their academic pursuits.
