Dear Carroll Community,
Over the past several newsletters, I've shared examples of the many ways philanthropy makes a difference at Carroll College. This week, I'd like to continue that conversation by highlighting the tremendous impact of foundation giving and celebrating a significant new investment in our students and their educational experience.
I am delighted to share that Carroll has received a nearly $1.7 million grant from the E. L. Wiegand Foundation to support the development of our Physician Assistant (PA) Program. This generous investment will provide state-of-the-art simulation technology, medical equipment, and learning spaces that will help prepare our future PA students for careers in healthcare, particularly in Montana's rural and underserved communities.
The E. L. Wiegand Foundation has been an extraordinary partner in advancing science and healthcare education at Carroll for many years, previously contributing more than $3.6 million to support facilities and educational opportunities in Simperman Hall and the Fortin Science Center. This latest grant builds upon that remarkable legacy and reflects the Foundation's continued commitment to our students and mission.
One of the most exciting aspects of this gift is the advanced technology it will bring to our classrooms and laboratories. The grant will fund four Anatomage tables, which allow students to explore human anatomy through interactive, three-dimensional digital models, as well as handheld ultrasound devices that will give every PA student hands-on experience with diagnostic imaging technology. And in another wonderful example of philanthropy working together, individual donors John and Meredith Sullivan have generously stepped forward to fund two additional Anatomage tables, bringing the program's total to six.
These investments are helping turn our vision for the PA Program into reality. Renovations are underway in St. Charles Hall and Simperman Hall, and we remain on track to welcome our first cohort of 34 students in May 2028, pending accreditation.
I am deeply grateful to the E. L. Wiegand Foundation, the Sullivans, and all of our philanthropic partners whose generosity continues to expand what's possible at Carroll. Their investments do more than support buildings and equipment. They create opportunities for students, strengthen our academic programs, and ultimately extend Carroll's impact far beyond our campus.
With gratitude,
Jennifer Glowienka, Ph.D.
President, Carroll College
