This session features guest speaker, John Tabb, Suicide Prevention Program Manager at Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. Education about 988 helps people recognize when they or someone else may be experiencing a mental health crisis, understand that support is available before a crisis becomes an emergency, and know exactly where to turn for immediate help. It reduces stigma and uncertainty around seeking support, builds confidence in responding to someone who is struggling, and connects individuals with trained crisis counselors and local resources. Ultimately, 988 education turns awareness into action—helping people recognize, reach out, connect, and stay safe.
