On April 29, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Carroll College Nursing Department will hold a mock mass casualty event on the athletic practice fields between the PE Center and Guadalupe Hall.

We want to make the Carroll College and Helena communities aware that this is a MOCK incident event.

On April 29, 2025, the Nursing Department is conducting a Mock Mass Casualty Incident in order to better our students' understanding of disaster triaging, incident command systems, and trauma-informed care. We are achieving this by saying there is a terrorist attack at the Montana State Capitol, and we are triaging victims on the practice field of Carroll College. Then, after they are triaged by our nursing students, they will go to another station and be re-triaged as if they were taken to a hospital.

This simulation will be run three times throughout the day. The makeup and props will be done by Julie Harris’s theatre class and the nursing lab facilitators, as well as volunteers. There will be another station discussing Incident Command Systems and Hospital Incident Command Systems in partnership with our Computer Science program, then a third station that goes over Trauma Informed Care, which will be led by Molly Molloy from the Master of Social Work department, and a debrief of the simulation.

Our new Nursing Mobile Health Unit and an emergency helicopter from Billings Clinic will also be on hand.
