Every August, National Make-A-Will Month encourages individuals and families to create a will or review an existing estate plan. Although estate planning is often associated with later stages of life, a will is important for adults of every age. It provides clear direction for loved ones, identifies who should manage your affairs, care for minor children, and ensures your assets are distributed according to your wishes.
Life changes quickly. Marriage, children, grandchildren, retirement, the loss of a loved one or changes in financial circumstances can all affect an estate plan. National Make-A-Will Month offers a helpful annual reminder to review your documents, confirm that your beneficiary designations remain current and make sure your plans continue to reflect the people, values and causes that matter most to you.
