Dr. Karen Price has served as the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (SVPAA) and Dean of the College since July of 2026.
At Carroll, Dr. Price oversees the Office of Academic Affairs, including the stewardship and administrative leadership for all undergraduate and graduate academic programs and their talented faculty. She is responsible for steering the long-range planning, review, and development of degree programs to ensure academic quality, relevance, and alignment with the College’s mission and modern higher education trends. In partnership with her Associate Vice President, she supervises the Corette Library and Simperman Learning Commons, Office of the Registrar, Academic Technology Services, the Communications Center, the Writing Center, and Honors Scholars Program. She is a member of the President’s executive leadership team, serves as the staff liaison for the Board of Trustees’ Academic Affairs Committee, and serves on numerous faculty and college committees.
Dr. Price brings more than a decade of leadership experience in Catholic higher education. She served as Vice Provost and Dean of Institutional Effectiveness at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina, a Catholic liberal arts institution serving approximately 1,750 students. In that role she served as the institutional accreditation liaison with a strong record of successful program-specific and institutional accreditation compliance reviews, demonstrating her commitment to quality education and student achievement. She also held the rank of Associate Professor of Data Analytics and has experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate students across multiple modalities.
She currently serves on the Council of Scholars for the American Academy for Liberal Education (AALE) and previously served as President of the North Carolina Association for Institutional Research (NCAIR). She has also served as an affiliate consultant with Credo, Powered by Carnegie, supporting higher education strategy and planning initiatives nationwide.
Dr. Price earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, where her research focused on institutional assessment and evidence-informed change. She also holds a Master of Science in Sport Psychology & Behavior from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was an NCAA Division I student-athlete and Academic All-American.
