Jean Ollis

About

Dr. Jean Ollis is a Licensed Independent Social Worker - Supervisor (LISW-S) in the State of Ohio with over thirty years of professional social work experience. In addition to her role as an Associate Professor in Carroll College’s Master of Social Work Program, she continues to practices part-time as a mental health therapist. Jean’s practice experience mostly centers around home health and hospice, private adoption and foster care, and Workforce Investment Act youth programming. Jean has worked with all ages and populations but is especially interested in treating adolescents and young adults with a focus on grief and bereavement, coping with serious illness, life transition and mid-life crisis, and relationship issues.

Jean earned bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work from The Ohio State University. She earned her Ph.D. through the George Fox University Leadership and Global Perspectives program – studying leadership in cultural contexts around the world. Her research focus was an examination of the global refugee crisis – with special emphasis on enhancing resilience in the Somali population resettled in Columbus, Ohio.

Jean is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and is a former National Health Service Corp Provider. In her free time, Jean enjoys spending time with family and friends, travel/experiencing new places and cultures, hiking, fishing, reading, and art (viewing). Jean is an active member of her community including working with her church ministries and serving on school and church committees.
