September 1, 2017 Insider: So it Begins

WELCOME CLASS OF 2021
Welcome to our newest class of Carroll Saints. On August 24, first-year students and their families arrived on campus for Move-In Day. Assisted by enthusiastic upperclassmen, our new students and their belongings were whisked into their dorm rooms. After a whirlwind of orientation activities spanning the course of three days, our 300+ first-years were settled in and ready to begin their four incredible years at Carroll.
"Here at Carroll College you will have found what matters to you and you will have discovered in your time here how you will matter to others in the years ahead," shared Father Stephen Rowan, interim president of Carroll College, during his welcome address to the families and students of the class of 2021. Welcome to Carroll College!!
TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN (almost)
Thirty-eight years after Carroll students witnessed a total solar eclipse on the college’s campus, students, faculty and staff gathered once again to view this rare celestial event. Sharing specialized glasses designed to protect their eyes from the sun, participants took in the partial (93%) eclipse. Because Helena was in the path of totality in 1979, we were featured in special live coverage by ABC News. LET THERE BE LIGHT
Carroll College is partnering with the Sleeping Giant Citizen Council (SGCC) to install solar panels on Carroll’s campus. The photovoltaic array would not only increase clean energy sources in our Helena, Montana, community, but also provide student experiences in interdisciplinary education and civic engagement. Learn more about the project!
You can also get involved by signing up for the Helena Sun Run—all funds raised from the September 16 event will also be devoted to this project.
Saints Athletics
Carroll’s fall sports teams have trained hard over the summer and are now in full swing with their fall seasons. Carroll Athletics has joined with other colleges across Montana and the U.S. in offering aid to the people of Houston. At last count, four Carroll teams have sent athletic gear to Texas with more on the way. #HoustonStrong
