In March 2012, an amateur astronomer spotted strange plumes erupting out of Mars and streaking through the Martian atmosphere. These plumes were enormous, 150 miles high and hundreds of miles long. Three years of study have confirmed that these plumes are real, and they have appeared several times over the past 20 years. They've even been confirmed in an old Hubble Space Telescope image. What are they? Where did they come from? They seem to be too high in altitude for normal clouds. Are they auroras, like the northern lights? Astronomers are baffled and excited to try and solve the mystery of the Martian plumes. Join Dr. Kelly Cline as he discusses the mysteries surrounding these plumes.
