Evans Honored with Scouting Award

Dr. Thomas Evans Scouting AwardHonoring his very active role in the Boy Scouts of America and his collective work over the years advancing scouting, President Tom Evans received the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award from the National Eagle Scout Association. The award is a prestigious recognition granted by the Montana NESA committee to Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state, and regional level.

Dr. Evans has been instrumental in bringing the annual Boy Scouts Merit Badge University to Carroll College for four straight years.  The program has grown from 140 scouts its first year to this year being the largest gathering of scouts in the western region with 535 scouts and 150 adults in attendance. In addition, he has been involved in Venture Crew, a youth development program of the Boy Scouts, as well as serving as the vice president for STEM for the Montana Council. In the summer of 2015, Dr. Evans served as Scoutmaster for the United States Western Region Contingent at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Kirarahama, Japan. He is also an assistant scoutmaster and assistant den leader for several Helena scout troops. He has earned his Eagle Scout, WoodBadge, Powder Horn, and Order of the Arrow from Boy Scouts of America.
