Carroll Softball Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity

Thank you for highlighting our efforts with Habitat for Humanity.  It was one of the best community service experiences we have done as a team and our team is eager to help with future projects.  We spent half a day with Habitat for Humanity with half of our group helping with interior work on a house at the corner of Custer and Benton Ave.  The other half helped dismantle a shelving unit that had been donated to the Restore Store.  The morning gave our student-athletes the opportunity to get out of their comfort zone and take part in tasks that they may have never done before. But I think the greatest lesson that was learned is that it takes a team of people to help make a dream possible.  After spending the morning working on these projects, we learned that the family was moving into their house on December 5 so we decided to take this project one step further and adopt the family for Christmas.  In order to make this families first Christmas in their new house special, our team will be donating a decorated Christmas tree and a few gifts to go under the tree for the family.  This experience was truly a great experience for our team and one that I know our student-athletes will remember for years to come.
