Carroll Partners with Family Promise

Carroll College continued their partnership with Family Promise this summer by once again hosting and providing meals for families in the Family Promise program. Family Promise works with families who find themselves homeless to provide the support and resources necessary for them to regain sustainable independence. Over the four weeks of service Carroll College provided to the Family Promise guests this year, 25 dinner meals were prepared, delivered and hosted. Another 50 meals and daily snacks and nutritional needs were supplied to the Day Center for their guests. In addition, housing was provided in Trinity Hall with three Carroll students serving as on-site hosts.

The three Carroll students who served as on-site hosts in Trinity Hall were Kelly Taft (sociology) from Seattle, WA; Amelia Ohnstad (biology) from Sequim, WA; and Tori Bonar (international relations) from Boise, ID.

“Carroll College did an exceptional job because of the efforts and generosity of so many. The wonderful hosts this year, Kelly, Amelia and Tori, gave comfort and interacted so kindly with our guests. Our guests were very, very grateful!” said Nick Zullo, Executive Director, Family Promise of Greater Helena.

Family Promise is a community partnership involving the college and 24 local congregations who serve as host sites, meal hosts or offer both housing and meals for homeless families with children. Each family accepted in the Family Promise program sets goals with a case worker to identify employment and permanent housing to achieve sustainable independence.
