Carroll College Theatre Presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Graphic Featuring the Cast of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Carroll College Theatre is producing an uproarious musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by Rachel Sheinkin and William Finn. This theatre-opening production will run November 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, and 20, in the newly converted black box-style theatre in the lower level of the Carroll College Campus Center.

The show features an eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box.

A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful den of comedic genius. It is a fast-paced crowd pleaser and an instant theatre patron favorite.

Because of mild language and an adult situation, this show carries a parental advisory for every performance, but the late night versions of the show (10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 and 18) carry a strong parental warning as the actors have prepared a racier rated R version of the show for adult audiences.
