$156,684 Awarded in Simperman/Corette Scholarships for 2017/18

Through the enduring generosity of Roy F. Simperman, class of 1962, Carroll College was able to award $156,684 in scholarships this week to thirteen deserving and grateful students through the Elsie P. Corette Memorial Scholarship and the Roy F. Simperman Science Scholarships.

Two students, who intend to pursue medical school upon graduation, were the recipients of the 2017-2018 Elsie P. Corette Memorial Scholarship. Since 1973, approximately 174 Corette Scholarships have been conferred, totaling nearly $1,037,000, with a large majority of recipients going on to become medical doctors.  

2017-2018 Corette Scholarship recipients are: Kylee Bailey, sophomore biochemistry/molecular biology major, Shelby and Paul Wilson, sophomore chemistry major, Missoula.

Seven nursing students received the 2017-2018 Roy F. Simperman Nursing Scholarship along with four math and science majors being awarded the Simperman Math and Science Scholarship.

In the eight years that the Simperman Math, Science and Nursing Scholarships have existed at Carroll, $618,500 has been provided to 53 students.

2017-2018 Simperman Science Scholarship recipients are: Morgan Calnan, junior nursing major, Montana City, Allison Trent, junior nursing major, Missoula, Madison Robischon, sophomore nursing major, Townsend, Allie Roberts, junior nursing major, Helena, Fiona Bennett, junior nursing major, Bozeman, Haley Adams, junior nursing major, Moscow, ID, Taylor Thompson, sophomore nursing major, Clancy,  Peyton Twete, sophomore biochemistry/molecular major, Whitefish, Kaitlin Stromberg, sophomore biology major, Hamilton, Bethany Lacock, junior chemistry major and Matthew McHugh, junior civil engineering major, Missoula.

Over the years, the Simperman Math, Science and Nursing Scholarships and the Corette Scholarships have provided over $1,656,184 in aid to deserving students. This year’s average award was $12,000. Read here to view the full press release. 

These scholarship funds are generously supported by Roy F. Simperman of Mercer Island, Wash. Simperman is the chairman and chief executive officer of Semaphore Corporation in Seattle.
