About

For Sean Herrin, life since graduating from Carroll College has been defined by hard work, family, and a deep love for the game of football. Sean, a 2009 graduate with a degree in Health and Physical Education, now lives in Bozeman, Montana, with his wife, Jessica, and their two boys, Hendricks (5) and Bennett (1.5), along with their dog, Harvey.

Sean is in his fifth year as the Director of Football Strength and Conditioning for the Montana State Bobcats football team. When he’s not in the weight room or on the field, you can find him and his family camping, fly-fishing, hiking, building Legos, or visiting loved ones back in Helena. Saturdays in the fall are, of course, spent cheering on the Bobcats.

When asked about his time at Carroll, Sean doesn’t hesitate. “My favorite memories are spending countless hours with my football teammates, who eventually became my good friends - and many I would consider my brothers,” he shared. He credits coaches Mike Van Diest, Jim Hogan, and Nick Howlett for shaping not just his career, but his character. “Their work ethic, passion for the game, and the commitment they poured into us young men is something that has helped shape me as a coach with my athletes.”

For Sean, success isn’t measured by trophies or titles, but by family and personal growth. “I’m most proud of being a dad to Hendricks and Bennett, and a husband to Jessica,” he said. “My family supports me and sacrifices in so many ways, and they push me to try to be the best version of myself every day.”

He also shared powerful advice for current students: “Who you become in this life is much more important than what you achieve. Don’t get obsessed with achieving the A’s, the GPA, or chasing the championships. Get obsessed with the pursuit of those things—the process. The process is what will make you become who you are meant to be.”

When asked to describe his Carroll experience in three words, Sean summed it up simply: “Worth the Work.”
