About
On the evening of Tuesday, August 18, Rachel Prevost, Carroll Class of 2020, had the honor of announcing the votes of the Montana delegation to the National Democratic Convention as part of the national roll call for the presidential nomination. As part of her talk when announcing the vote, Rachel had the opportunity to highlight the importance of developing robust rural broadband. Rachel noted that "rural broadband is something that is essential for students in rural parts of the state and particularly for remote learning. Being from a rural area where it can be a challenge to work and learn completely online, rural broadband access impacted my final semester of college as we moved to remote learning for the safety of students and faculty during the pandemic." Rachel was excited to be able to share her thoughts before a national audience as part of the coast to coast virtual roll call.
Rachel studied political science, communication studies, and public relations at Carroll College. Dr. Jeremy Johnson, Associate Professor of Political Science, who taught Rachel in many classes over her years at Carroll, noted that Rachel is "an outstanding student. I am thrilled she is continuing to constructively pursue work on the issues she is passionate about. She is an excellent example of our young alumni who are assuming leadership roles in society. "
