Hailey Boisvert graduated from Carroll College in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in Anthrozoology. She recently earned a Master of Science in One Health from Unity Environmental University and now works as an Environmental Monitor for Ecological Associates Inc., where she monitors beaches across southeast Florida for nesting activity of three sea turtle species: loggerheads, green sea turtles, and leatherbacks.
Hailey chose Carroll because of the unique opportunities offered through the Anthrozoology program, along with its affordability and welcoming community. As a cheerleader, she quickly found a place where she belonged both academically and personally.
Her time at Carroll prepared her for a career in wildlife conservation by helping her better understand the relationship between humans and animals. As a first-generation college graduate, Hailey says she felt well-prepared to enter the workforce and confident enough to continue her education through graduate school.
One experience, in particular, changed the course of her career.
"My wildlife conservation course in Costa Rica, led by Dr. Suthers, opened a huge door for me. I originally planned to pursue small animal medicine, but that course made me recognize my passion for conservation. It ultimately led me to where I am today. Thank you, Dr. Suthers, for being such an amazing instructor and role model."
Beyond the classroom, Hailey says Carroll shaped her life through the friendships she built and the close relationships she formed with faculty. She especially appreciated the smaller class sizes, which created a supportive learning environment and meaningful connections with her professors.
One of her most memorable experiences was training Cooper, her Anthrozoology dog during her junior year.
"Cooper taught me so much about myself and even influenced my decision to get an Australian Cattle Dog. Working with the dogs and horses during my classes brought so much comfort."
For prospective students, Hailey encourages them to embrace everything Carroll has to offer.
"If you're considering Carroll College, you should definitely go. There are so many wonderful opportunities, and there have been even more exciting upgrades since I graduated just a few years ago. Even if you aren't planning to major in Anthrozoology, I recommend taking a few classes. The human-animal relationship is fascinating, and you never know where it might lead. You may discover a career you never expected."
