About

Professor of Philosophy, obtained her Ph.D. from the Université Catholique de Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium and her Laurea degree from the Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy.  She was the recipient of an Erasmus scholarship to the Husserl Archives at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, and of a Fulbright scholarship to Boston College and to the Library of Congress, Washington D.C.

Her special interests include the philosophy of Hannah Arendt, Contemporary Continental Philosophy, Feminist/Gender Theory, Social and Political Philosophy, Phenomenology and Italian Philosophy.

Dr. Roncalli is the author of the book The Future of the World Is Open: Encounters with Lea Melandri, Luisa Muraro, Adriana Cavarero and Rossana Rossanda, (SUNY Press, 2022), which examines the work and thought of three prominent Italian feminist philosophers, Lea Melandri, Luisa Muraro, and Adriana Cavarero, as it delves into the significant experiences that shaped them, highlighting their converging and diverging positions.

She is co-editor with Silvia Benso of: Contemporary Italian Women Philosophers: Stretching the Art of Thinking (SUNY Press, 2021). She is a steering committee member of SIP, Society for Italian Philosophy.

Her research centers around the interplay between embodied subjectivity and living spaces, the relationship between power and violence, the struggle between agency and political recognition.

Away from the classroom, she loves hiking, spending time with her family and friends, as well as traveling, especially to Italy.
