A Celebration of Philanthropy at Carroll

Dear Carroll Community,

This month, we celebrate the remarkable generosity that sustains and strengthens Carroll College. Today's announcement of new full-tuition scholarships from the Roy F. Simperman Foundation marks a milestone in the Simperman and Corette families’ nearly half-century of steadfast support. Their newest gift – funding six full-tuition scholarships for Montana students, including graduates of Butte Central High School and future math and science majors – builds upon a legacy that has already changed hundreds of lives. Over the years, the Simperman and Corette families have contributed more than $9 million to Carroll, enriching nearly every aspect of our campus experience from scholarships and science labs to the transformation of the Simperman Learning Commons and Corette Library. Their vision and compassion embody the heart of philanthropy: believing in others and investing in their potential.

That same spirit of giving continues to shine across our campus. On Thursday, we hosted our “Phil Was Here” celebration, a campus-wide event designed to help students recognize the many ways philanthropy touches their daily lives. From the classrooms where they learn to the scholarships that make attendance possible, nearly everything at Carroll reflects the generosity of our donors. Through this event, students wrote thank-you cards to donors, shared stories about their own experiences, and discovered how gifts, both large and small, help shape the college they love.

We are deeply aware that none of this would be possible without the thousands of alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff who have given so generously over the years. Every gift, regardless of size, helps open the doors of Carroll to talented students from all backgrounds. Because of you, 99 percent of our students receive financial aid, and programs such as our Pell Promise now ensure that Montana students with the greatest financial need can attend tuition-free. These opportunities are a direct reflection of your belief in our mission and our students’ promise. We also continue to expand access through our Academic Scholarship Program, which offers prospective students the chance to earn awards from $1,000 up to full tuition.

If you have not already done so, we encourage all students to complete the FAFSA, the first step toward accessing both federal and institutional aid. To learn more, watch Director of Financial Aid Janet Riis’s short video explaining the FAFSA process.

Philanthropy at Carroll extends beyond our donors as our faculty and staff also lead by example through our CommUNITY giving campaign. Already this year, more than 50 employees have given back, supporting 24 different campus funds that enhance the Carroll experience for current and future Saints.

We invite all members of our community to join us for The Joy of Giving on November 7, an evening of fellowship and gratitude hosted by our Board of Trustees. Together, we’ll celebrate the stories, lives, and dreams made possible through your generosity.

From all of us at Carroll College – thank you. Your support changes lives. You make it possible for students to learn, grow, serve, and lead with purpose and joy. Together, we continue a tradition of faith, generosity, and hope that defines what it means to be a Saint.

With gratitude,
