SRF Keynote: Chris La Tray

As the keynote address of Carroll College’s Student Research Festival, Chris La Tray of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians, Metis Storyteller, and 2023-2024 Montana Poet Laureate will present a lecture on April 25, titled, “Listening to the Language of the Land. 

This event is free and open to the public. Dessert will be served after the event.

About Chris La Tray

Chris La Tray, Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians, Metis Storyteller, and 2023-2024 Montana Poet Laureate is author of two collections of poetry, One-Sentence Journal: Short Poems and Essays from the World at Large and Descended From a Travel-worn Satchel: Haiku & Haibun. 

La Tray has established himself as a prominent voice among Montana’s poets. His debut collection, One-Sentence Journal, received multiple honors upon its release, including the 2018 Montana Book Award, the 2019 High Plains Book Award (Best First Book), and was a finalist for the 2019 High Plains Book Award (Best Book by Indigenous Writer). His third book, Becoming Little Shell, will be published in 2024 by Milkweed Editions.
