Living With Autism Scholarship

Hammack Law Firm is offering a scholarship to an autistic person who is pursuing higher education. The Living with Autism scholarship is worth $2,500, and the deadline to apply is June 15, 2021. Submissions should be limited to 1,000 words. Any student with autism who has been accepted or enrolled in an accredited college or university may apply.

About the Scholarship

The team at Hammack Law Firm has a personal understanding of autism, including what is involved in raising and being a sibling to a person with autism. Lawyer Paul Hammack is the parent of an autistic child and has witnessed the impact of being on the spectrum for an autistic child in school.

“Often, children with autism struggle in mainstream education to learn within the traditional education framework and are often misunderstood,” Hammack explains. “Because our high school special needs programs may focus more on life skills than education fundamentals, autistic children may not be encouraged to continue their secondary education. The result of all of this is that only a small percentage of autism spectrum disorder students go on to college.”

The team at Hammack Law Firm supports autistic children who choose to pursue higher education despite the unique challenges they might face. Through the Living with Autism scholarship, Hammack Law Firm aims to recognize young people seeking to better themselves through education and their families’ hard work.
