Carroll College COVID-19 Update: April 9, 2020

COVID 19 Update Graphic

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

Welcome to our bi-weekly correspondence to keep you updated and informed of Carroll College’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fall Classes
Questions have been circulating about plans for the fall semester given the current situation. At this time, we are committed and planning to offer our courses and the full Carroll experience in person for the fall semester. However, we have learned that we cannot always control external factors. Technology can be powerful and the switch to online instruction has allowed us to continue classes this spring in spite of the unprecedented nature of this global pandemic; however, Carroll understands that the human to human interactions that our students experience are what sets us apart. In the event that the health and safety of our students and community should dictate that we cannot start the fall in person, we assure you that Carroll will still deliver our curriculum and services to our students with the same high standards and support.

Fall registration for current students begins on Tuesday, April 14. Registration times and dates have been sent via email.

Drop Deadline Extended
The college has extended the last day to drop a course with a "W" grade by two weeks. Students will have until Thursday, April 23 to submit a drop request for approval using the new online course drop form. A grade of "W" shows that a student was enrolled in a course past the add/drop period but has a neutral impact on a student's GPA. Please consult with your instructor and advisor before submitting a drop request.

Campus Events
In light of the Governor's extension of his Stay-at-Home directive through April 24, Carroll will not be hosting any on-campus events for students or the public until after May 1, 2020, at the earliest. The Cabinet and Incident Command Team will reevaluate after May 1.

Easter Services
Please join our Chancellor, Bishop Austin Vetter, and the live stream he is providing through the diocese of Helena (www.diocesehelena.org). The Good Friday liturgy begins at noon. The Easter Vigil is Saturday at 5 pm. Mass on Easter Sunday is at 11 am.

COVID-19 Communication Schedule
In an effort to minimize the number of email communications being shared with our students and employees, we are adjusting the frequency of our COVID-19 ICT Updates. Beginning next week, you will be receiving these updates once a week on Wednesdays.

Please remember updates and additional information continue to be posted to our COVID-19 website and any questions you have can be directed to the covid19@carroll.edu account.

Thank you again for your incredible work and understanding. Please enjoy your Easter holiday and most importantly, stay safe and healthy!

Thank you,

John E. Cech, Ph.D., President
