About

Biology | Periodontist & Implant Surgeon

Andrew Peterson’s path from Carroll College student-athlete to highly specialized periodontist reflects a steady commitment to discipline, growth, and service.

At Carroll, Andrew balanced the demands of academics with collegiate golf, where early mornings, travel, and competition helped shape the work ethic and resilience he carries into his career today. His time on the course taught him more than the game—it instilled time management, focus, and the ability to perform under pressure.

After graduating in 2009 with a degree in Biology, Andrew moved to Portland to pursue dental school, followed by a periodontal residency. There, he discovered his passion for surgical dentistry and advanced periodontal care. In 2019, he transitioned into full-time practice in California, taking on the responsibilities of patient care while continuing to refine his expertise.

Today, Andrew is a Board-Certified Periodontist and a leader in implant dentistry and regenerative procedures. His credentials include Diplomate status with the American Board of Periodontology, the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, and the International Congress of Oral

Implantologists, along with Fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He is also a certified LANAP instructor, teaching minimally invasive laser techniques to clinicians across the country.

Despite his impressive professional accomplishments, Andrew finds the most meaningful part of his work in the impact it has on patients.

“The most rewarding part of my career is restoring health and confidence in a way that truly changes how people live.”

Whether helping patients smile again, eat comfortably, or overcome long-standing dental challenges, Andrew values the trust placed in him during vulnerable moments. His role as an educator further extends that impact, allowing him to improve patient care far beyond his own practice.

Outside of his career, Andrew’s greatest joy is his 8-year-old son, Luke—now his favorite golf partner. What once shaped his own college experience has come full circle, as he shares the game with his son, teaching patience, resilience, and perspective along the way.

Looking back, Andrew credits Carroll with preparing him not just academically, but personally.

“Carroll gave me the habits, mindset, and values I still rely on every day.”

From influential professors to campus traditions like Softball Weekend, his college experience helped shape both his career path and his approach to life.

Today, whether in the clinic, teaching fellow clinicians, or walking the course with his son, Andrew carries forward the lessons he learned at Carroll—using his skills to serve others and continually grow in his profession.
