Red Carpet Movie

Join us for a very special red carpet movie screening on Wednesday, February 25, from 6-9 p.m. in the Campus Center. All students are invited to join us for this fun evening!

This year, we will be watching the 2015 film, The Mask You Live In, which follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity. Experts in neuroscience, psychology, sociology, sports, education, and media also weigh in, offering empirical evidence of the “boy crisis” and tactics to combat it. The Mask You Live In ultimately illustrates how we, as a society, can raise a healthier generation of boys and young men.

Formal attire is encouraged but optional. Students will walk the "red carpet" to the foyer of All Saints Hall, where dessert will be available. A photo backdrop will provide opportunities for pictures, and “media” will do red carpet interviews and photographs as students make their way into All Saints Hall for the screening of "The Mask You Live In".

The event is in support of MindTap providing community education on the impact marketing and media play on creating power and influence by defining gender role stereotypes.

  • 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. Students will walk the “red carpet” in the Lower Cube area outside of FLEX Theatre. Photo Backdrop will provide opportunities for pictures and “media” will interview and photograph as students make their way into All Saints Hall.
  • 6:30 – 6:40 p.m. Lead people into All Saints Hall for the introduction of the film screening.
6:40 – 8:20 p.m. Viewing of “The Mask You Live In” (directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom) ~ 1h 37m runtime. This documentary explores how our culture's narrow definition of masculinity is harming our boys, men, and society at large and unveils what we can do about it.
