Carroll Hosts Walk to End Alzheimer's

People participating in the Alzheimer's Walk

Carroll College was pleased to host the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on a beautiful Saturday on campus last weekend and was thankful for the incredible support of students and staff. Hundreds of community members participated representing friends, caregivers, family and those suffering from the disease. The walk is one of 600 nationwide and a major fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association.

Saturday morning dawned early...and bright - thanks to the dozens of Carroll College students who volunteered for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Numerous nursing students, the women’s softball team, even an impromptu appearance by Alex on bagpipes – all contributed time, effort and enthusiasm to celebrate the 300 attendees who collectively raised nearly $30,000.

These are critical dollars that make possible the work of the Alzheimer’s Association, providing care and support, public policy efforts and vital research into treatments, preventions and a cure. Lt. Governor Mike Cooney emceed the opening ceremonies, paying tribute to those living with Alzheimer's and related dementias as well as their caregivers and those lost to the disease. A moving solo by Molly Day culminated the morning’s festivities before the party moved to the football field for added game day awareness activities.

The Alzheimer’s Association warmly thanks the students, faculty, staff and alum for their generous support as – together – we create a world without Alzheimers. Support is always available at no cost through our 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900. Donations are welcome and accepted through November 20, 2018 at Alz.org/walk.
