Portrait of Elizabeth Karr

Director of the Library

Elizabeth Karr is Carroll's new Library Director. She hails from San Jose, California where she recently managed two library branches for San Mateo County Libraries and previous to that, San José Public Library.  Elizabeth also worked as the Peace Corps Librarian in Washington, D.C. and as an academic librarian for Helena College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Loyola Marymount University and a master's degree in Library and Information Science from San José State University. She is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Philippines, 2007-2009).

Elizabeth is thrilled to be back in Montana with her partner (Dieter) and her dog (Indiana “Indy” Bones). She enjoys roaming around Mt. Helena and Mt. Ascension with her “pack,” reading a mish mash of things, and learning about local history.  She looks forward to connecting with students, faculty and the Helena community around activating the library within the classroom and the wider campus and city space.
