Please fill out and return the meal plan form below with your housing form as soon as possible. If no meal plan is selected, students will be enrolled in the Gold plan. All students living on campus—with the exception of the apartments—are required to have a meal plan.
Meal plan options at Carroll offer a combination of meals in the dining hall and flex dollars. There is one dining hall on campus, the St. Thomas Aquinas Commons, also known as the STAC. Campus dining is operated by Sodexo, which also happens to be one of the largest work-study employers on campus. More information can be found on the website www.carrolldining.com.
Meal plans are loaded onto the student’s ID card at the beginning of each academic year. Students can choose between having unlimited use of the dining hall during posted hours (as with the Platinum plan) or a set number of meals per semester (as in the Gold or Silver plans). Meals do not transfer from semester to semester.
When a student enters the STAC, his/ her ID card is swiped and meals are deducted accordingly. Students dining in the STAC may not remove food from the dining hall, but are welcome to enjoy as much as they like while there. A sack lunch option is available so that students may preorder and pick up a lunch to go. Meal plans are assigned for the year, but changes can be made the first week of each semester in the Student Life Office.
The dining hall opens for the semester the Sunday night before classes begin. The dining hall is closed to students during Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, the entire Semester Break, and Spring Break.
What are Flex Dollars? Flex dollars can be used at all on-campus dining locations (STAC, Wholly Habaneros, Jazzman’s Café, Simply to Go in Simperman Hall and concessions at Nelson Stadium and the PE Center) at any time. As long as the student has a spring meal plan, the balance of the unused flex dollars will roll over from fall to spring semester, but they do not roll over from one academic year to the next.
