General Public / Guest Use Policy
LIBRARY POLICY FOR MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC
The Corette Library supports the Mission Statement of Carroll College. The primary mission of the Library is to support the curricular activities of the College. Materials are purchased, cataloged, and maintained that will support the research needs of students and faculty.
Members of the Carroll community have priority use of all resources.
The Library is only open during certain hours to persons not associated with Carroll College. The Library is normally open to the General Public:
Sunday noon - 6:00 p.m.
Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Saturday NO PUBLIC HOURS
The inside lobby doors will be locked Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 p.m to midnight; and all day on Saturday.
Carroll students and faculty who wish to enter the Library should use their ID card on the reader located on the right-hand interior door of the lobby. If your card does not work in the card reader, simply show it to us at the door and we will admit you. You may update your card at any kiosk on campus.
The Library is not open to members of the General Public after 6:00 p.m., or on Saturdays.
Users from outside the Carroll community will be issued a library card upon presentation of a valid card from their local or college library.
Outside users may check out circulating books and government documents for three weeks and renew these materials, unless the items are requested by a member of the Carroll community. Fines of overdue materials are $.20/day per item. Items not available for circulation include reference materials, periodicals, DVDs, videos, ipads, reserve materials, and equipment.
Interlibrary Loan is only available to Carroll students, faculty and staff - please use your local public library if you require these services.
Access to Library Resources
Guests may access the Library's catalog from particular computers- printing is not possible from these computers. Please inquire at the Circulation desk for assistance.
Only Carroll students, faculty, and staff may use library computers and the Internet; members of the general public may use the catalog-only computer to find materials. The Lewis & Clark Public Library has computers with Internet access for cardholders, and will issue 30 minute computer guest passes to non-cardholders.
Databases / Indexes: outside users may not access the Library's subscribed electronic databases.
Photocopiers: photocopiers are available in the Library. Copies are ten cents ($.10) a page for b/w, and twenty-five cents ($.25) a page for color.
Scanners: scanners are not available to members of the General Public.
Rooms: Library conference and seminar rooms are for use only by the College community. The Carroll Campus Center is available for use by the general public. Please call 447-4407 for information and reservations.
Interlibrary loan services are not available to outside users - please use your local public library if you require these services.
Fines for three week loan items are assessed at twenty cents per day per item. If you lose a book you will be billed for the cost to replace the book plus a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) processing fee.
Borrowing privileges are suspended when a third notice of overdue materials has been sent to the patron.
All borrowed items must be returned to the Circulation Desk in the Library or deposited in the book drop located on the east side of the lobby.
