Room Use Policy

Faculty can directly place requests for library room reservations through the Booked app, which can be found on their homepage after logging into Okta. Library staff will approve reservations as space is available. Library staff require at least 24 hours, Monday - Friday, to approve reservations through Booked.

Students can email or call the library, or go into the library, and ask to speak with a staff member to reserve a classroom; study rooms are not reservable at this time.  To make a reservation, contact the library staff at 447-4340 or libstaff@carroll.edu.

For last minute reservations (less than 24 hours), please call the library directly during the campus' regular business hours (M-F 8:00am - 4:30pm) and ask to speak with a staff member.

At this time, public access to the library and learning commons facility is suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic. Find out more about use of the library by the public here.

Other Policies

Classroom space

The Sandbox Classroom is available to faculty to teach technologically-enabled sections of their courses and  available to students to work on projects and study.

Noise

Lectures, discussions, and DVD soundtracks easily disrupt others using the library.  Please shut the doors while your class, presentation, or meeting is in session.

The temperature of some rooms can be uncomfortable when filled with people, especially the Sage Room (235).  We are working with facilities to correct the temperature issues in the rooms.  In the meantime, quiet fans are available in the Sage Room and Sandbox (233).

Food and drink

Food and drink is prohibited in the Sage Room.  If you wish to serve refreshments at an event in the Sage Room, please consult with the Library Director to see if alternative arrangements are available.

Corette Library does not have the facilities to provide, serve, or store refreshments nor do we have a kitchen area that is accessible to faculty, students or non-library staff; you are welcome to bring your own food, drinks, and dishes.

Equipment

The Library no longer provides equipment loans other than iPads, battery packs and digital pointers.  To borrow equipment, please contact CCIT or visit their Technology Support Center in St. Charles.

Reservations

Reservations for rooms are highly recommended. We cannot guarantee the use of a space unless reservations are made.

An event booked in a room will be given priority over any other events, impromptu or planned, that have not been booked.  However, we will ask ifor you to move a meeting should the registrar need to move a class into the library. 

If there are no events booked in a room or space, space is available on a first come, first served basis, with one notable exception: should a patron need a room with specific equipment (e.g., a DVD player or projector), their use will take priority over individuals who do not need that equipment. We will assist displaced patrons in finding another study room.
