Captain Jeffery T Whitney
ROTC Assistant Professor of Military Science
Captain Jeffery T Whitney was born in Ephrata, WA. He enlisted into the Army as a 29V Microwave Communications Operator/Repairer in 1992 after graduating High School. He attended basic training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA. His active units of assignments include the 16 th Signal Battalion, 3rd Signal Brigade Fort Hood, TX, 201st Signal Support Company Yongsan, Korea, and Headquarters Company 1110 th Signal Battalion Fort Detrick, MD.
In 1996, he transferred into the Washington National Guard serving as a unit level 25U Communication Maintainer with D Company 161 st Infantry Battalion (Mechanized). He reclassified into the 25B Information Systems Analyst MOS when assigned to the Washington National Guard Directorate of Information Management.
In 2005, SSG Whitney accepted an AGR position as the Communications Team Leader for the newly formed 83rd Civil Support Team in the Montana National Guard. He attended the Montana National Guard Officer Candidate School and commissioned as a Chemical Corps 2LT in 2012. He was hired as the Survey Section Leader for the 83rd Civil Support Team then moved to 95 th Troop Command as the full time S4 and as M-Day HHD Commander. In 2017 he was promoted to Captain and moved back to the Civil Support Team to serve as the Operations Officer. In 2021 CPT Whitney was transferred to the Assistant Professor of Military Science position at Carroll College. He looks forward to opportunity to share his experience and blended service as a soldier, NCO, and Officer to help develop new officers. He is also excited to be part of the Carroll College family.
CPT Whitney and his wife Amy have lived in Helena, MT since 2005; they enjoy the outdoors, raising cattle, horses, and tending their small farm. They have two children; Colby and wife Tori (granddaughters Leila and Blair), and Brooke and fiancé Isaiah who live in Montana and continue to enrich their lives.
