Banta, Christine "Shelley"
Assistant Professor, MSN, RN, PMHCNS-BC
Assistant Professor, received her BSN at the University of Scranton in Scranton, PA and earned her masters at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in child and family psychiatric mental health nursing. Shelly is a board-certified psychiatric mental health clinical nurse specialist. She is pursuing a doctor of nursing practice at Montana State University with a focus on individual and family health and her scholarly project focus is mild cognitive impairment. Her nursing background includes serving as a psychiatric nursing faculty at MSU School of Nursing for the previous 15 years as well as working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Certified Dementia Practitioner.
Special nursing interests include vulnerable populations, mental health, public health, health policy, holistic and integrative nursing and hospice.
Other interests include: enjoying family and friendships, hiking, camping, traveling and anything associated with snow, especially skate skiing.
Courses taught: psychosocial concepts of nursing, psychiatric mental health nursing, assessment across the lifespan and leadership.
