United Way Development & Marketing Intern

Purpose of Job: There is a twofold purpose to the Development and Marketing Intern:

  1. Provide a valuable career development opportunity for a capable and ambitious Carroll College student while respecting the priority of successful course work and;
  2. To add energy and talent to meeting our mission: bringing resources, organizations and people together to improve quality of life for every person.

Duties and Responsibilities: Depending on the skills and interests of the successful applicant, the Development & Marketing Intern will assist our full-time team members with a range of tasks including:

  • Community Christmas Sharing Coordination
  • Prepare printed materials
  • Assist with social media presence
  • Assist with website updates
  • Mailings and donor acknowledgements
  • Point-in-Time local homelessness survey coordination
  • United Way Volunteer Center website agency dashboards
  • Public speaking opportunities to civic groups and local businesses
  • Assist with events and social media under the guidance of the Marketing Coordinator
  • Data management for employee charitable giving campaigns
  • Special projects as assigned

  • Communicates politely and effectively on the phone, by email, in person, and in writing
  • Experience working with volunteers helpful but not required
  • Able to take direction and follow detailed procedures

Employment Specifications:  Work-Study Only

Approximate Hours/Week:  8 to 10 hours per week

Special Time/Schedule Requirements:  Flexible - between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday 

Length of Employment:  Academic Year

Wage Rate:  $8.75/hour
